The Bailout of the Car Industry has failed, and today is going to be the pits for the stock market.Yesterday I went with Hank at the ford dealership to Savannah Tennesse to pick up a new truck, and noticed that one car dealership had closed in Jackson,Tennesse, and a Dodge dealership had closed in Selmer Tennesse.I am not elated to see people have misfortunes,I hate to see any one fail. But I am afraid that there are going to be many more.Today there are too many to report of companys that are laying off employees. The unemployment lines are backed up.Missouri is reporting six to eight weeks to get a check started.Freds,a local retailer in Portageville, supposedly is going to lay off employees right here at Christmas,so evidently they do not need very many cashiers,or stock people.
Back to the car industry.I sold cars for a short time, and if the farmers done good, then we sold cars,if they had a bad crop it affected sales.Around here the economy basically revolves around Noranda Aluminum, which is laying off right and left, and the farmers. Cotton prices are to cheap, for the farmers to realize a profit.Corn shows no profitability for next year, along with soybeans,So you see what the farmers are up against. We all need to be praying,as I am sure most of you have.Goose
